On December 29, 2022, the University Grants Commission (UGC) releases the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2022 Notification. From December 29, 2022, eligible candidates will be able to apply online for UGC NET 2023. UGC NET December 2022 Exam will be held from 21 February 2023, to March 2023 in various shifts. - JRF: Max 31 Years
- Assistant Professor: No Age Limit

UGC NET Qualification
- General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree
- This test is open to candidates pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent, those who have taken their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination but are still awaiting the result, or those whose qualifying examinations have been delayed. Candidates of this category will be admitted provisionally and will be eligible to receive the JRF/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after passing their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% (50% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, people with disabilities, and third gender). Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified
- Three-gender candidates are eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age, and eligibility criteria as SC/ST/PWD candidates for NET (i.e. JRF and Assistant Professor). Among the SC, ST, PWD, OBC–NCL, and General-EWS categories in the corresponding subject, the cut-offs for this category would be lowest.
- Doctoral degree holders whose Master’s level examinations were completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of the date when results were declared) are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (from 55% to 50%).
UGC NET Exam Pattern 2022-23
The Test will consist of two papers. Both papers will consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions. There will be no break between papers. Each question carries two (2) marks. for Each correct response, the candidate will get two marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect responses.
